Wesley Taylor - From "Rock of Ages" to "The Addams Family"

Hey, Rockers!

I hope you guys don’t mind indulging your dramatic conjurer here at TCOTS for a moment…

When an actor who has originated a role in a hit show decides to leave, there’s always some sadness, as fans have taken that actor and the character he or she portrays to heart. The role and actor are indelibly joined as one in the show’s history. But when they leave for the purpose of getting to create yet another role in another new show, well, then you have to temper your sadness with pride, as you know that others are seeing in that actor the talent that the producers of your favorite show did.

As many theater news outlets reported earlier this month, a new musical based on “The Addams Family” will be making its world premiere in Chicago on November 12, 2009, with a Broadway opening in April of 2010. “Rock of Ages” own Wesley Taylor will be joining this cast as 'Lucas Beineke,' whose relationship with 'Wednesday Addams' (played by Krysta Rodriguez, most recently of "In The Heights") will be the focal point of the plot. Other Broadway luminaries in this cast include Nathan Lane as 'Gomez', Bebe Neuwirth as 'Morticia', and the duo of Terrence Mann and Carolee Carmello as Lucas’ parents.

Wesley’s last performance in “Rock of Ages” will be the 7pm show on Sunday, September 13th and tickets are available through Ticketmaster or at the Brooks Atkinson box office.

Break a leg and do us all on the Sunset Strip proud, Wes!

Rock of Ages' Tad Wilson Kicks Off "Broadway Legs" for BC/EFA

Hey, Rockers!

Rock of Ages” cast member Tad Wilson is spearheading what we hope will become a new theater tradition and would love for the fans to help!

Now, the theater community has had a time-honored phrase for wishing someone good luck –“Break a leg.” At a few of the recent Broadway openings, the casts of such shows as “Rock of Ages", “Next to Normal", "9 to 5" and "Waiting for Godot" have been presented with an artifical leg, signed by cast members and created for the occasion to ceremonially break before curtain.

Broadway Legs” hopes to donate the signed legs to the silent auction at the Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS Grand Flea Market and Auction in late September, but – sorry about this joke, everyone – these legs cost an arm and a…well, you know.

Tad has acquired 10 “Rock of Ages” show posters signed by the entire Broadway cast and would like to give the fans here on The Cry of the Strip the first opportunity to purchase one for $50, with every penny going to purchase the materials for the project.

In essence…artificial limbs will be helping to save REAL lives. For information regarding the project or to reserve a poster for purchase (at the theater - cash only, please), please contact me at lizzy@thecryofthestrip.com

New cast members join ROA on Broadway

Arriving on Broadway we sadly say goodbye to some of the original cast and welcome aboard the 2009 freshman class of Rock of Ages.

In the role of Sherrie we have the young broadway veteran Amy Spanger, formerly of The Wedding Singer, Urinetown, Kiss Me Kate and Chicago, to name a few.  We hear she’s a true triple threat - singer/dancer/comedienne.  And I’m sure she can rock a stripper pole, hungarian or not!

Next, filling the big boots (and codpiece) of Stacee Jaxx, there’s James Carpinello.  James’ work includes Saturday Night Fever, The Rocky Horror Show and Romeo & Juliet.  He’s a dude who really knows how to treat a girl, or llama.

New guys in the ensemble are Michael Minarik (of Les Miserable), Jeremy No. 2, Jeremy Jordan (a B’way Virgin), Andre Ward (Xanadu, Saturday Night Fever, The Producers)

And The Venus Club and Bourbon Room have just hired on Ercika Hunter (another B’way newcomer), and Katherine Tokarz (White Christmas, A Chorus Line, Wicked)

We wish them nothing but a good time!

Welcome to the Great White(snake) Way

Hey, rockers!

More ROA Press!

Hey, rockers!

The press is continuing to shout out to the back row of the arena the news that Rock of Ages is moving to Broadway and predicting great things for the both show and one of the stars of the off-Broadway production (whom we are hoping to see in the Broadway production as well!), Constantine Maroulis.

The NY Daily News, The Wall Street Journal’s Market Watch and the blog site at MusicBLITZ are just some of the most recent members of the media to hop on the Rock of Ages word-of-mouth tour bus, headed straight for the Brooks Atkinson Theater in March.

Speaking of word-of-mouth, don't forget to register at on our message board, The Bourbon Room at The Cry of the Strip! We've saved a bar stool and a chilled Strawberry Daiquiri wine cooler just for YOU!

Don't Stop Believin'!
